In October 2017, after nearly a 10 year hiatus, MTV relaunched TRL, Live from the Times square studio in NYC. The format of live performances, celebrity interviews and the assorted hijinks of a live variety show continued, with a focus on inviting a digital audience into the studio and tapping into social fandoms beyond linear.
Our visual strategy was VISUAL URGENCY; Super style graphics, Saturated yellows and crushed blacks, and enough flashing to warrant a disclaimer. Like a bodega for the music and celebrity super fan.
The graphic heavy campaign and subsequent show packaging was largely created in house and included; a full live show graphic package with daily content refreshes across linear and digital, set screens and experiential branding, Promotional campaign and weekly laundry lists, out of home, photographic celebrity car wash, Brand IDs, and an ice cream truck.
