In the years since COVID-19 upended daily life, mental health struggles have skyrocketed, accelerating an already dire mental health crisis that experts have called a second pandemic. Amid the pandemic, a larger than average share of young adults aged 18-24 have reported symptoms of anxiety and/or depressive disorder.
MTV Entertainment Studios’ mental health initiative, MENTAL HEALTH IS HEALTH is committed to moving people from awareness to taking real action for mental health.
Creatively, the aperture of the campaign spans across platforms and media; on air and digital packages, extensions of the core initiative like Mental Health Action Day and an ever evolving coalition of 1,400+ organizations, brands, government agencies and cultural leaders to change the conversation from awareness to action on mental health.

As a media company, it was incredibly important that we were having an open dialogue with our industry partners (and ourselves) on how the themes of mental health can best be reflected in the stories we tell.
