For the 2022 MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS, the in house design team partnered with Studio Dumbar to create a dynamic, immersive, motion-focused campaign that would stop our audience in their scrolls. Using the actual VMA logo as our vessel, we developed a three-dimensional space to transport viewers into a unique, immersive “VMAverse” (sorry) that reimagined the iconic DNA of the VMA brand through a fresh, and own-able, perspective.

The music videos themselves have always been the muse of the VMAs and this campaign championed that concept, creating moments of surprise and delight through a surreal remix of nominee visuals that felt disruptive, yet at home with the in your face expression we’ve come to expect from the Anti Academy awards show.

The vibrant and immersive 360 campaign contributed to the 2022 VMAs having their best total minutes consumed ever (157M, +79% year over year) in VMA history. And with 40 million social media interactions during the live broadcast alone, The 2022 VMAs were the most social live event of the year, trumping both the Super Bowl and the Oscars.
